Board of Directors Nominations

At the 2025 COGEL Conference in Atlanta, Georgia, the COGEL Board of Directors and membership will elect three individuals to the COGEL Board of Directors – the governing body of COGEL.

COGEL members have an important opportunity to shape the direction and continue success of the COGEL organization by nominating individuals willing to lend their time and talents as a member of the Board of Directors. The 2025 Nominating Committee is now inviting nominations to fill three seats on the 12-member Steering Committee for four-year terms beginning in December and ending in December 2029.

As COGEL’s governing body, the Board of Directors is composed of individuals from a range of COGEL disciplines – campaign finance, ethics, elections, freedom of information, and lobbying. The Board also ideally includes members from different geographic locations and reflects the diversity of COGEL members. It provides strategic direction for the organization to ensure its continued growth and development. It is responsible for generating all operational policies, procedures, and related matters affecting COGEL, and it provides oversight of COGEL committees to ensure all facets of the organization are working toward a shared vision and goals while representing the voices of all stakeholders. The COGEL Board of Directors Pledge and Terms of Reference provide more details regarding the duties and responsibilities of COGEL Board members.

Nominations of individuals to be considered as Board members can be made by third parties or through self-nominations as described below. Both types of nominations are considered equally by the Nominations Committee.
