COGEL Scholarship Program

The COGEL Scholarship Program is designed to welcome new organizations into the COGEL community by providing a 12-month organizational membership waiver. The program supports organizations whose work aligns with COGEL’s mission and disciplines.

COGEL will offer two scholarships per year. Applications are open May 1 through June 30, and awards will be issued no later than August 31.

Scholarship Options

Each scholarship provides a 12-month organizational membership waiver. Applicants may be considered for one of the following scholarship options.

Digital Access Scholarship

For organizations unable to attend the annual conference but interested in connecting with COGEL through digital resources and member opportunities.

  • Complimentary organizational membership for one year
  • Access to virtual events, publications, and the member network
  • Conference registration is not included

In-Person Scholarship

For organizations able to attend and fully engage with the annual COGEL Conference.

  • Complimentary organizational membership for one year
  • Access to virtual events, publications, and the member network
  • One in-person conference registration at the early-bird member rate

Eligible Applicants

  • Organizations aligned with one or more COGEL disciplines that are not current COGEL members
  • Individuals formerly affiliated with COGEL through a prior employer who now represent a new, non-COGEL organization
  • Organizations whose COGEL membership lapsed at least three consecutive years prior to application

Scholarship Term

Each scholarship runs from September 1 through August 31 of the following year.

During the 12-month term, scholarship recipients receive access to COGEL member benefits, including virtual events, publications, and the member network.

After the Scholarship Year

At the conclusion of the scholarship term, awardees may continue their COGEL membership at a one-time discounted rate of $375, a 25% reduction.

Scholarship Timeline

Review the annual timeline for application, review, approval, and scholarship activation.

Applications Open May 1

Application and promotion period begins.

Application Deadline June 30

All applications must be submitted by the deadline.

Review Period July 1–20

The Membership Committee reviews applications and nominates awardees.

Board Approval August

Final approval and award notifications occur following Board review.

Awards Issued By August 31

Scholarship awards are issued before the start of the scholarship term.

Scholarship Term Sept. 1–Aug. 31

Recipients receive 12 months of organizational membership access.

Scholarship FAQ

COGEL will offer two scholarships per year. Each scholarship provides a 12-month organizational membership waiver.

The Digital Access Scholarship does not include conference registration. Where applicable, the In-Person Scholarship waives the conference registration fee for one organization member at the early-bird member rate.

Organizations whose COGEL membership lapsed at least three consecutive years prior to application may be eligible. Organizations that have been members within the past three years are not eligible.

At the conclusion of the scholarship term, awardees may continue membership at a one-time discounted rate of $375.
