Ethics Roundtable

 

The event will include a discussion of Ethics developments in the US and Canada since the 2025 conference and an opportunity to connect and share your updates with other COGEL members.

We encourage participants to have their cameras on to support an engaging and interactive experience. The session will include breakout rooms for discussion and networking opportunities.

Panelists & Moderator

Nathan Rice

Executive Director, State of Illinois Executive Ethics Commission

Nate has served as Executive Director of the Executive Ethics Commission (EEC) since February 2024. Prior to his appointment, Nate served as Deputy General Counsel and Ethics Officer for the Illinois Department of Public Health and previously held several leadership roles with the Commission, including Senior Legal Counsel and Chief Administrative Officer. Before entering state government service, Nate worked in local government as an Assistant Corporation Counsel for the City of Springfield, Illinois.

 

Barbara K. Myers

General Counsel, State of Illinois Executive Ethics Commission

Barbara joined the Executive Ethics Commission in 2017 and has served as General Counsel since July 2023. Before joining the Commission, Barbara worked as a litigator in the Springfield office of a national law firm. She is a graduate of the University of Illinois College of Law and Northwestern University’s Medill School of Journalism.

Mary Fox

Executive Director, Pennsylvania State Ethics Commission

 

 

Paul Nick

Executive Director, Ohio Ethics Commission

Paul M. Nick is currently the Executive Director of the Ohio Ethics Commission and has worked at the Commission in various roles since 1995.  He has been a member of COGEL for 27 years and has served as President and Treasurer.  He received a B.A. in Economics from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, a B.S. in Forensic Accounting from Franklin University, and his J.D. from The Ohio State University Moritz College of Law.
